Join us for an ongoing exploration of these issues from a Gaian perspective. Launching from Dumanoski's seminal work, The End of the Long Summer - the main ideas of which are explained by our curriculum - we will explore the anthropological, psychological, and biological history of humankind, through the lens of Gaia and system sciences, to come to an understanding of how we got here and where our living planet is headed. Further, we will explore how to not only survive this trajectory, but how to create a vision for a human culture that is informed by its understanding of itself as an integral part of a larger Gaian system. In a very real sense, what we are seeking is not just to "shock proof" our culture, but to fundamentally remake civilization so that we may live on an increasingly volatile planet.
There is no single answer, no prepackaged solution to the complex and unpredictable future we face. The answers are ours to discover and formulate. Euglena Academy will provide a foundation, bring in experts to share their knowledge, and create a space that fosters "out of the box" thinking and community collaboration.
In the words of Dumanoski, "Fear, despair, and denial are indulgences we cannot afford. It is time to turn and face the future head on."
